100 Things You Can Do When You Don’t Have Astonishing Blogging Ideas

Are you out of blogging ideas? This article may help you

We all have those moments when we run out of blogging ideas. That is quite normal. But I am here to help. This piece of content will provide you 100 brilliant things to do when you don’t know what to write about.

I used to be flooded with blogging ideas when I could go out to socialize with my friends. Experiencing social things had the benefit of keeping me inspired. The lockdown destroyed my constant flux of ideas.

Unfortunately, working from home and not going out anymore sabotaged my inspiration, so I switched gears.

When new blogging ideas struck me, I always write them down on my notes application from the phone. I move the notes to my blog’s drafts and delete them completely from the phone from time to time.

I always check out my blog’s drafts when I run out of new blogging ideas. Sometimes, I open a draft and write 2–3 paragraphs only, but that’s a plus compared to nothing. Isn’t it?

By doing things this way, I usually have 3 times more draft blogging ideas than published articles.

Are you ready? Here is a list of blogging ideas I compiled myself.

1. Optimize and Revise Old Posts

When you run out of blogging ideas, a useful thing you can do is to improve and optimize your old blog posts.

Both new and old articles are important for your blog’s ranking, so do not neglect the content that’s not fresh.

You can also do the following:

  • Improve your articles’ SEO score, update the information that is not accurate anymore, and add new information to your article.
  • Check your Google Analytics stats and find your best-performing content pieces. Those articles are the ones that should be constantly revised and kept up to date.
  • Republishing old content on Social Media will boost your post’s stats and help new people read your content.

2. Audit Your Blog and Improve It Constantly

When you aren’t in the mood for writing, you should audit your blog and improve SEO. Auditing a blog is straightforward if you are using the right tools:

By improving your blog’s overall performance, you will get more traffic and reach new users, which may become loyal readers.

3. Write an Article About the Plugins You Use on Your Blog

A good tip is to write content that can help other bloggers, not just random readers.

Writing an article about the plugins you use on your blog will help you get noticed in the blogosphere and increase your reputation. Being appreciated in your work line is crucial because this can provide you new opportunities and writing gigs.

4. Write Blogging How-to Guides

Blogging how-to guides can also boost your reputation. This type of content is useful for new bloggers and can become viral on Social Media.

Without transforming into a people pleaser, you want people to like you and appreciate your work, don’t you? This type of content helps you achieve just that.

5. Write About the Reasons You Started Blogging

Everybody loves stories, don’t you think?

Writing about the reasons you started blogging will most likely inspire others, both regular readers and bloggers as well.

Also, sharing ups and downs with your public will attract a lot of sympathy.

For example, I started blogging about 15 years ago while in Highschool. I found blogging a nice way to express my feelings and share different experiences with others.

This would provide you a lot of blogging ideas.

6. Offer Actionable Advice About Monetizing the Blog

Everybody wants to make money from their hobbies, eventually. If your blog is making money, share your experience with others.

Provide useful and actionable pieces of advice that will help others make money as well. This type of advice will transform the bloggers that read your blog into loyal fans.

7. Take Part in Blogging Contests

If you want to practice your writing and develop new skills, you should participate in different blogging contests.

This way, you will get your work evaluated, and you will also get the chance to read both worse and better articles than yours.

Writing commercial texts and advertorials will help you learn to perform proper documentation, write articles based on briefs, and respect deadlines.

8. Write Guest Posts on Other Blogs

Writing guest posts will help you promote your own blog to different audiences. This way, you will also gather backlinks to point to your blog and get your name noticed easier.

Guest-posting is a perfect method to consolidate your personal brand and to create brand awareness.

Also, you can write content for different magazines and sites that pay for guest posts to gain extra bucks.

9. Interview Bloggers and Awesome People

If you are out of blogging ideas, you can always interview interesting people. Your readers may find these interviews inspiring and motivating.

This method will provide benefits for both you and the interviewed person.

10. Organize Blogging Contests and Giveaways

Organizing contests and giveaways help you consolidate your brand and attract new readers.

Who doesn’t want to receive free stuff or win awards in exchange for a like and a share on Social Media?

This thing will help you transform regular readers into loyal followers.

11. Perform Proper Documentation for Future Articles

If you are not in the mood for writing and don’t feel inspired, you should not struggle. Instead, you can document trends and find information regarding what you want to write about in the future.

Some tools help you find writing topics. I recommend Keywords Everywhere, a nice tool for discovering new blogging niches and seeing how keywords perform.

Planning and writing sketches and drafts is the behind-the-scenes side of blogging.

12. Answer to Questions Asked on Forums and Facebook Groups

One of the best ways of finding blogging ideas is to monitor forums, Facebook Groups, Reddit Threads, and Quora Spaces.

If you can answer a user’s question, you can write the answer on your blog and post the link on the group or forum. This way, you will get traffic from Social Media, but you will also cover a poorly documented topic on other sites.

This approach can bring you results in both the long and short term.

13. Make a List of Your Favorite Bloggers and Writers

Making a list of your favorite bloggers and writers brings you at least two benefits.

Writing about other blogs will help the promoted bloggers notice you and provide valuable information to your regular readers.

By discovering other bloggers, it does not mean that your readers will stop reading your content. Instead, they will consider you helped them discover other places where they can get valuable information from.

14. Write “News of the Day” and “News of the Week” Articles

The purpose of this type of article is to transform regular readers into fans. By publishing “news of the day” articles at a fixed hour every day, your readers will develop the habit of reading your blog, especially for this type of content.

The “news of the week” articles can be posted every Sunday at the same hour. Sundays are usually low activity days. By doing this, you can easily cover your content for Sundays, and you can drive some traffic to your blog simultaneously.

15. Get Inspired From Other Blogs

Another good way to find blogging ideas is to read blogs and get inspired by other writers.

You can write responses to articles you read on other person’s blogs or write an article on the same topic, mentioning the original post’s source, of course.

This can lead to interacting with other bloggers and will also provide valuable content to your readers. And it’s not stealing.

16. Write an Article About Your Most Clicked Articles

This will help you bring your old viral articles back to life and get noticed by your readers. You should do everything you can to maximize your content’s success, which is one method.

Also, explaining the reasons why your articles went viral is useful for other bloggers as well. Inspiring other bloggers will boost your reputation and will bring awareness to your brand.

17. Write About Your Blogging Mistakes

If you want to help other bloggers, do not hesitate to write about your blogging mistakes.

Maybe they are making the same mistakes you did, and your post will help them fix this. The article should be written positively, with examples of how to do things right.

For example, I neglected the blog’s visual side a lot, which was wrong. Now, I pay a lot of attention to the design and the graphical elements I use in the articles.

18. Share With Your Readers the Milestones Your Blog Had Passed

It is always a good idea to share with your readers the milestones your blog had passed. Also, share the things you want to achieve further.

This will show your readers that you are serious about blogging. Sharing your ambitions may both inspire others and consolidate your personal brand.

Who doesn’t like to follow people with big ambitions?

19. Write Practical Advice Articles About SEO

If you had learned SEO the hard way, share your experience with other bloggers.

This will consolidate your brand and make you be seen as an expert. This type of content has big value because it can bring you opportunities in the future.

Maybe, a company will want to hire you to take care of their SEO… Who knows?

20. Write About the Things You’ve Learned About Social Media

If you have discovered efficient ways to use Social Media, share your secrets with others.

This will help you consolidate your brand and will also bring you opportunities in the long term.

Sharing actionable advice with others will make you seen as a leader and boost your personal brand.

Generate Content About Your Travel Experience

It is always a good idea to write about your trips and the awesome places you visited.

21. Write About the Apps and Platforms You Use for Planning Your Trips

I had learned the hard way that good documentation and planning transform regular trips into awesome ones.

You need to have a visiting itinerary planned from home. This way, you will save valuable time on your trip. For the documenting part, you can use different platforms and applications that provide valuable information.

I use Sygic Travel to discover places to visit and SplitWise to write down the expenses and split them with my travel companions.

Writing an article about your favorite travel applications and platforms will help your readers organize better during their trips.

22. Write Information About Your Expenses and How You Managed Them

This article is beneficial for all the people who plan to visit the same location as you did. This way, they will have an approximate idea regarding the prices and will be able to create a holiday budget.

Providing tips and tricks regarding the way you manage payments is always a good idea. For example, I never exchange money in the local currency. Instead, I prefer to transfer money from my bank account to my Revolut card and withdraw money from Revolut in the local currency.

I don’t mind going to the ATM every day to withdraw money. My method helps me get good exchange rates and doing things this way, and I don’t return home with foreign currency.

23. Write Accommodation Reviews

If you stayed overnight at a nice hotel or house, you should write about your experience there.

This type of article provides a lot of value to your readers.

For example, when I intend to book accommodation, I read the reviews on Booking, but I also search for blog posts. I am confident that bloggers usually speak the truth, and this is why I search for a second opinion.

24. Write About the Local Food

To maximize your holiday experience, I advise you to try the local food. Pizza and french fries are okay, but you can eat those in your hometown as well.

Do proper documentation regarding the local food and try it out. This way, you discover new and tasty food, and you can blog about your culinary experience.

Share with your readers which are the local products you like and recommend nice restaurants and eating places.

25. Make a Top With All the Places Worth Visiting

If you had a nice holiday experience, share it with your readers as well.

Write a “Top places to visit” article based on your experience. This type of content is beneficial for people who do not have too much time to visit the entire city.

This way, they can go directly to nice places and avoid the boring ones.

26. Make a List of Things Everybody Should Know Before Visiting a Destination

To help the others prepare for their trip, write a list of things people should know before visiting a destination.

This kind of detail can transform a good holiday into an awesome one.

For example, advise them to wear comfortable shoes if they visit historical places, list local events they shouldn’t miss, or recommend tasting the local craft beer.

27. Write Reviews for the Museums You Had Visited

Museums are always tricky; they can be either boring or awesome.

Based on your experience, make a list of the museums worth visiting and why and let people know which places they should avoid.

For example, if you visit Bologna, you must go to the Museo per la Memoria di Ustica, but avoid MAMbo — Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna.

28. Write About the Funny Things That Happened During Vacation

It’s always a good idea to entertain your readers and tell them the funny things that happened to you.

For example, if you got caught up in a storm without proper clothing and isolated yourself in a coffee place to wait for the storm to stop, always a nice and funny story to tell.

29. Write Tips and Tricks About How You Take Notes During the Trips for Future Blog Posts

It is sometimes very overwhelming to work on a travel article and struggle to remember details about the places you had visited.

To avoid this, I take notes on my phone when possible, but I also have a notebook where I write down things when my phone has a low battery.

This way, I can transform 7 blogging ideas into a 1500 words article with ease.

30. Make a List of All the Gadgets You Use on Your Trips

I don’t go anywhere without my power bank, the phone charger and two data cables, my camera, my laptop, two memory cards, and one external HDD drive.

Which are the gadgets you use on your trips?

31. Write Bad Experiences in a Positive Manner

Of course, you are allowed to write about the bad aspects of your trip. But instead of complaining and writing angry posts, try to have a positive attitude.

Write how you should have done things better. This will help your readers avoid the situations you had encountered.

32. Write an Article Describing All the Destinations You Recommend

To help the readers decide where they want to go on holiday, you should group the locations you had visited in a single article and provide valuable information regarding why anyone should choose those places.

33. Answer the Questions Posted on Travel Groups if You Have the Right Expertise

If you have a lot of travel experience, you should study all the travel groups’ questions and write articles containing the answers.

It is most likely to ask for advice because it isn’t easy to find accurate information on the internet regarding that topic… If you fill in that void, your article will get a lot of traffic in time.

86. Create How-to Guides for the Photo Editing Platforms You Use

If you use Canva or other online platforms for creating graphic content, create how-to guides and tutorials.

This type of actionable advice provides value to the readers and helps them enhance their skills. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to be able to create graphics for Social Media.

87. Teach Others How to Take Awesome Photos

If you are good at taking photos, share your experience with others. Write materials that teach your readers how to take better photos.

Don’t write general tips; provide actionable advice instead.

I added this to the blogging ideas list because blogging is better when you insert awesome photos.

88. Write About the Applications You Use for Editing Photos Directly on the Phone

If you are using applications such as Snapseed, share your experience and provide actionable advice.

This kind of application will enable you to transform good photos into great ones.

89. Write About the Software You Use to Optimize Your Blog Photos

For example, I resize all my photos with the free version of XnConvert before uploading them on the hosting.

I like this software because it allows me to do batch operations to modify many photos simultaneously.

This type of content is valuable for bloggers and regular users who want to perform basic photo manipulation.

90. Write Content Optimized for Social Media

If you want to increase your follower base, write content optimized for Social Media.

Blog articles are different than Facebook posts. While long articles perform well on websites, Facebook content should be condensed and optimized for the platform.

Random Blogging Ideas:

I did not know how to categorize the below ideas.

100 Things You Can Do When You Don’t Have Blogging Ideas
Photo made with Canva Pro

91. Start a Podcast

If you enjoy speaking, why not start a podcast? This will help others discover you and see you as an expert on your niche.

The easiest way to do this is to invite friends and specialists to talk about different subjects.

Should this be on a blogging ideas list? I think so…

92. Start a Vlog

If you are good at creating video content and are comfortable talking on screen, you should start a Vlog.

Try to create short and condensed videos at first, and keep in mind that your own performance also counts, not just the information you provide.

93. Generate TikTok Content

If you are funny enough, create TikTok videos. This is a good channel that can boost your following base.

94. Create Infographics to Promote Your Content on Pinterest

Despite being neglected by some, Pinterest is a powerful platform that can drive readers to your blogs.

A good approach is to create infographics for Pinterest and link them with your blog posts. This is not a blogging idea, but it’s totally worth it.

This may seem that should not be part of a blogging ideas article, but blogging isn’t just about writing on a blog.

95. Promote the Services and Products You Use Regularly

Writing about the products and services you use regularly is always a good idea.

You would be doing it for free at first, but you can get the opportunity to create paid content and promote the same services you wrote about for free in the long term.

This will also bring value to your readers; they will get the chance to discover new and awesome products and services.

96. If You Are a Gamer, Start Broadcasting on Twitch

If you like gaming and are comfortable speaking in front of big audiences, I recommend you start broadcasting on Twitch.

This can facilitate you to become popular and to grow a fan base real quick.

97. Write About Your Dream Destination

If you could move tomorrow anywhere in the world, what destination would you choose and why?

This type of content will generate a lot of interactions and will make your readers dream.

98. Imagine You Would Interview Your Childhood Idol

I still wait for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to answer my interview request… Joking.

This is a fun idea you can implement easily.

99. Write About Your First Public Speaking Experience

Write about the first time you had to talk in public and how you managed the entire experience.

Provide actionable advice.

100. Organize an Ask Me Anything Session on Your Social Media Pages

Organizing an AMA will help you discover which are the things your fans want to discover about yourself. This should definitely be part of any blogging ideas list.

101. Test different passive income apps

People are interested in making easy money, so documented articles about passive income apps should be part of any blogging ideas article. Personally, I recommend HoneyGain.

Bottom Line:

In 10 years of blogging, I had learned that blogging is not only about the writing process itself.

To generate good content, you also need to do proper documentation and organize your ideas. Do you have other blogging ideas you would like to share with others?

Tips for Sleeping Without Back Pain

0

For many, eight hours of uninterrupted sleep and no back pain is just a beautiful dream. I was fighting every day with back pains and I know how hard it is for you to go to sleep hoping that in the morning you will be fresh. It’s terrible waking up more tired than you were before you went to sleep. If the medical consultation does not reveal any problem, then it is possible that the back pain is due to vicious positions during the day, but also those during sleep.

How to Get Rid Of Back Pain Depending on Sleep Position

collage photo made in Canva

It is essential to keep the spine’s curve as close to normal as possible during the night, and for this, you need to use the right pillows (yes, you can have more than one!) and the perfect mattress.

I sleep in all positions, and after years of waking up with back pain, I have learned some tips that worked well, and I want to share them with you.

Sleeping on the Back

This is a position that aligns your head and torso correctly. Unfortunately, many people fail to fall asleep on their back or don’t sleep like that long enough to avoid back pain. Using an ergonomic pillow to support the neck and another in between your legs (below the knees) will help you tolerate this position more easily.

How Can Ergonomic Pillows Help Avoiding Back Pains

  • Ergonomic pillows are designed to adjust themselves by the shape of your head and adapt to its position throughout sleep. These anatomical pillows are made of polyurethane foam with a different molecular composition from other types of foam.
  • Polyurethane is a viscous-elastic material developed for space travel, which reacts to body heat and thus molds to the body’s natural contour, eliminating pressure points, promoting blood circulation, and properly aligning the head, neck, and spine. It is a material that returns to its original shape as the movements are performed.
  • The anatomical shape of an ergonomic pillow helps your spine stay in the correct position during sleep. It molds to the shape of the head, eliminating the tension of the cervical area and improving the quality of sleep.

Sleeping on Your Belly

Many sleep on their belly, waking up in the morning with pain in the lower back. For you, it is preferable to try to sleep also on one side, with a pillow between the knees. In this way, by lifting the leg that rests on the pillow, the hip will be aligned with the spine.

If you are too used to sleep on your belly and cannot change this, it is recommended to position a thin pillow in the pelvic area to straighten the spine.

What Type of Pillow to Choose for Sleeping on Your Belly

Four types of pillows
photo made with Canva

These are the types of pillows you can choose from:

  • Natural filling
The natural filling is mainly made of feathers and flakes and includes other materials such as silk, linen, wool, or kapok. A pillow made of natural filling is soft to the touch, and its shape is easy to change. It is advantageous if you change your sleeping position during the night and sleep either on your back or on one side because the filling changes its shape depending on your position.
  • Fiber filling
Fiber-filled pillows contain siliconized fiber. This type of pillow has greater elasticity than pillows with natural filling. Choosing between a pillow with natural filling and one with synthetic filling is a matter of personal preference.
  • Special Filling
This category includes memory foam or latex pillows. Because the filling is made of compact material, this type of pillow offers the best support. (ergonomic pillows)

Sleeping on One Side

If you are used to sleeping on one side, it is essential to choose the right pillow, forcing you to sleep in a naturally correct position. When you sleep on your side, the right pillow will protect your back and neck. And if you have problems with snoring, this position is recommended because it reduces the tendency to snore.

The Ideal Pillow for Those Who Sleep on One Side Is:

  • A high pillow that provides support to the neck
  • A firm pillow, the filling must remain compact to support your neck correctly
  • A pillow with a large amount of padding to fill the entire space between the pillow and the mattress

You Need a Mattress that Relieves the Back Pain

a bed with mattress for back pain

A mattress is composed of two important parts, the elastic structure, and the mattress cover. The most important structure is the elastic one because it supports the body and allows complete relaxation while the cover completes the mattress body. Specialists in physiotherapy and psychology also support the importance of a quality mattress for a night of good sleep.

What criteria must our mattress meet to ensure optimal sleep conditions, and how do we choose it?

When you choose a mattress, you choose the place where you will spend a third of your life. Consider the mattress as an investment in your health. This is very important, especially for people with sleep or health problems. Ensure that the mattress has been made of modern and environmentally friendly materials and certified for hygiene and safety.

  • To distribute the body weight proportionally, thus ensuring the conditions for a good relaxation
The materials must be elastic enough to adapt to the shape of the body and support it in a correct position
  • To last impeccably for years
  • Textiles used to ensure a high level of ventilation (to permit air circulation and remove the moist), maintaining a dry and fresh environment for maximum comfort
  • The materials from which it is made protect against mites, bacteria, mold.

I’ve been searching a lot for a mattress to fit all my needs and which could make the miracle to release me from back pain. And I found the one which checks all criteria from above.

Flexx 7 Zone Mattress with 3D Memory Foam

💙 FLEXX: This means that the mattress is designed with a comfort height of 25 cm, suitable for every type of sleep and weight. You can put it on the appropriate side, depending on your sleeping habits and preferences. On a side, it is soft; on the other, it is harder, and so we can choose the right side.

💤 Ergonomic & Orthopedic: The Arensberger FLEXX mattress is divided into 7 different zones with 3D embossing and divided into 2 layers (cold foam + Visco Smart foam). The mattress adapts flexibly to your body and supports the cervical spine in all areas.

💧 Heat & Humidity Management: The 3D zones of the Visco layer allow the air to circulate and ventilate better. The hypoallergenic cover is made of 100% polyester (optimal moisture regulation). The special thing about the mattress is that the sides of the mattress are completely equipped with 3D mesh climate material – so the mattress can also ventilate from the side!

⭐ For Allergies: The anti-allergic / anti-mite cover made of double cloth is removable and washable up to 60° degrees.

✔ High-Quality Materials: This means that it is made of only high-quality materials, and this Arensberger mattress is tested and certified according to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100. This is not only good for us but also protects our environment.

OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s best-known labels for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer trust and high product safety. Find out here what STANDARD 100 means and why it is worth paying attention to this label when buying textiles.

Conclusion:

Honestly, I ordered the mattress based on the reviews. Now, after 6 months from purchasing, I have to say that my sleep is better, and my back pain has largely disappeared. Given that I have scoliosis (due to poor quality pillows and mattresses), I can’t say I’m 100% relieved of back pain. It’s a fact that the mattress adapts to the body and is very comfortable. And it doesn’t smell!

Short recapitulation:

  • Sleeping on your belly
Use pillows filled with soft polyester fibers, natural goose down, or silk.
  • Sleeping on your back
Use pillows filled with slightly firmer polyester fibers or a mixture of down and goose feathers.
  • Sleeping on one side
Use pillows made of memory foam and firmer latex.
  • For all types of sleep
A 7 Zone Mattress with 3D Memory Foam

I hope this article will help you decide to find the right products for your health. It’s terrible to live with back pain, but there is hope. Just create a collection of pillows and buy a mattress that is best for you.

How to Join The Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program (The Official Requirements)

0
coursera affiliate program

In this guide, you will discover the minimum requirements for being accepted to the Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program. Stay tuned.

As you may already know, Coursera is an online platform that provides different courses and specializations developed by Universities or big brands, like Facebook, Google, IBM, Red Hat, Microsoft, et cetera.

You don’t pay for the courses you subscribe to, but for the months you spend learning. You have the chance to learn at your own pace and earn Certificates that are shareable on LinkedIn and good to be added to your CV (Resume).

The specializations are not very expensive, compared to their value. For example, the Facebook Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate offered by Facebook costs 41 Euro per month, and the Google IT Support Professional Certificate offered by Google costs 32 Euros per month. Each user gets a 7-day free trial, but that is usually not enough to finish a big certification.

My husband (who may still be mad at me for cutting his hair) attended the Google IT Support Professional Specialization to increase his IT Engineer skills. He was very pleased with what he had the opportunity to discover.

I attended the Facebook Social Media Marketing Professional Specialization out of curiosity. I already work as a Social Media Manager, but wanted to test my knowledge and maybe learn new things. I am very enthusiastic about the things I had discovered.

I currently attending a course about generating Viral Content. The complete name is Viral Marketing and How to Craft Contagious Content. Despite it being short, it provides a lot of valuable information. I simply love it.

The Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program

Both I and my husband bought Coursera specializations lately and we are very happy with the things we had learned, compared to other courses we attended to. We wanted to spread the word to others as well, so we joined the Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program with another blog.

The service does affiliate marketing via the Rakuten Advertising agency. (Not a fan of FC Barcelona? Too bad you will work with their sponsor.)

You can register for free, by following this link.

For each person you convince to join and attend a paid course, you receive a commission. The commission rate is the following:

  • Coursera Plus (10%)
  • Guided Projects (20%)
  • Standalone Courses (20%)
  • Specializations (45%)
  • Professional Certificates (45%)

Minimum Requirements for Your Website to Get Approved in the Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program

It is not so easy to join the Coursera Affiliate Marketing Program. The blog was first rejected, we had received the below email from Coursera.

coursera affliate marketing email

This is how we found out the minimum requirements for being eligible to join the Coursera Affiliate Marketing program.

To do affiliate marketing with Coursera, your website needs to:

  • be live and have an existing audience
  • have more than 1.000 unique visitors per month
  • should not contain deals, coupons, cashback, browser plugins, paid search, subnetwork
  • contain minimum an educational product promoted in the past year.

Also, I was asked how I plan to promote Coursera and what are some specific courses I plan to promote.

Our blog corresponded to the minimum requirements, so we replied to the email and shortly, it got accepted to the program.

This is how the confirmation email looks like:

accepted Coursera affiliate marketing

We are so happy that we were accepted to the Coursera Affiliate Marketing program. We will start advertising the awesome courses very soon.

I have noticed that adding the certificates to my LinkedIn profile, increased my profile number of views. Certificates are a good way of increasing your chance to get a better-paid job. The certification prices are very low, compared to the benefits.

Why (and How) I Blocked the Access on YouTube for the Entire House

0
Youtube
how to block youtube

Hello, Husband here.

Wifey and I decided to block the YouTube access for the entire house. Don’t get us wrong, we are not control freaks, but it is better to block the service instead of forbidding the kid to watch certain videos.

The little kid is watching all sorts of stupid videos on YouTube and drives us nuts sometimes. I know he’s five, but why does he have to watch videos of people playing different games and shouting while doing it? And the shouts are so loud… Annoyingly loud.

While doing it, I also have added on my hater list at least three YouTubers last week.

In the past month, I had also learned new things about a few of the creeps from the horror movies: Michael Myers (this was new for me), Jason Voorhees (I have Googled the family name for this guy), Freddy Krueger (already knew this dude), Chucky (the doll that had kept me from sleeping when I was little) and Siren Head (he is also new – this is a tall, metallic and dumb monster with sirens on his head). Also, I have watched a lot of Minecraft, Fortnite and Among Us videos lately.

Let’s return to the article’s main topic. Blocking YouTube on the entire network. Instead of forbidding him to watch videos bad for his age, we preferred to block the platform completely. We both know that small kids tend to always bend the rules.

child watching tv
Photo by Vidal Balielo Jr. from Pexels

Our family has 3 laptops, 3 mobile phones, and one PlayStation 3. I needed a solution to block the access on all the devices. At first, I wanted to block YouTube on each device, in order to be able to temporarily disable the restrictions when I needed to access the service. Unfortunately, this did not go according to the initial plan.

It was very easy on the PlayStation. I blocked YT on PS3 by adding a custom and more restrictive DNS (107.211.140.065 – TubeHax DNS), as per this thread on Reddit. The solution worked very smoothly. Next, I toyed around with a few Android applications that block YouTube, but I did not find any good solution to achieve my goal.

I know how to block YouTube via the hosts file on the laptops, but I did not find any good YT blocker for Android, so I decided to block the service at the router level. I have googled a little about whether my FritzBox supports this or not and found this article. I accessed the router and it took me 10 minutes to block YouTube.

How I did this? I will explain in the below lines (maybe it helps you too).

How To Block YouTube on your router

The idea is very simple. All you have to do is to add the YouTube servers to a blacklist and apply the blacklist for the main network. The servers are:

youtube.com
youtube-nocookie.com
youtu.be
ytimg.com
ggpht.com
googleapis.com
googlevideo.com

The instructions also work on different routers that have a blacklist function.

Optional: To undo the changes, remove the above links from the blacklist setup on the router.

How to block YouTube on your computer

If you need to block YT on your Windows computer, do the following:

Open This PC (My Computer)

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Copy the hosts file on your desktop

Right-click the hosts file and open it with Notepad

Copy and paste the below lines in your file (at the bottom of the file):

0.0.0.0 youtube.com
0.0.0.0 youtube-nocookie.com
0.0.0.0 youtu.be
0.0.0.0. ytimg.com
0.0.0.0 ggpht.com
0.0.0.0 googleapis.com
0.0.0.0. googlevideo.com

Save the changes made in the file and copy it back to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. Replace the existing file with the new one. Press Yes to confirm changes if required.

Optional: To remove the YT restrictions, navigate again to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, copy the hosts file on the desktop, delete the added lines with Notepad and paste it back in its original location, replacing the old file.

Also worth mentioning, I am a tech support specialist, and I am quite familiar with technology and computers. Still, the tutorials I have linked provide detailed instructions and require little technical abilities.

Our house is so quiet now! We are so happy that we got rid of all those random dudes that scream all day long. Instead, the kid watches adequate content on Netflix and Amazon Prime (he does not have any choice – hihi).

adults watching netflix
Photo by Vidal Balielo Jr. from Pexels

Later Edit: This YT blocking method done at router level has also blocked Google Play Store. To bypass this, I have created a new network on the router, one that does not have any restriction. When I need to watch videos on Youtube (when the kid is sleeping), I move to the second network.

I Was My Husband’s Personal Hairdresser And We Both Had A Lot of Fun During The Process

0
hairdresser

First of all, I want to say that my husband is a courageous man for letting me take him a haircut. Just think about the fact that I never cut hair before. I only used scissors for regular things.

But when it comes to trying new things, I never say no. And if I can’t do it right, at least I get the chance to experience it. This time I almost fainted from laughing.

His hair was growing, and everyone except me was telling him to get a haircut. He has gorgeous hair, and I really like the way he wears it. But despite this, I said, “Let’s cut a little, so you don’t look like you have a bowl on your head.” I claimed I would just cut a little around the ears, and that’s it.

The first impediment was that we didn’t have barber scissors, and I didn’t want to make him a new haircut with the kitchen scissors. So we ordered a set of professional scissors, and I used those. I got the urge to make him a new haircut at midnight, in the kitchen.

I covered his body with the gown. At that moment, I felt like the coolest hairstylist in the world. Jen Atkin was an amateur compared to me. I started cutting as if I were Edward Scissorhands! A little from here, a little from there, a little from everywhere (this was the moment when he got scared but didn’t say a word about it). I didn’t even look at what I was cutting exactly. The scissors were cutting so well, and I had the impression that they will make him a super hairstyle on auto-pilot.

At one point, I stopped the mowing to measure the haircut “balance.” And the balance was nowhere. Hir haircut looked as if several hedgehogs had made their nests on my husband’s head. I burst into hysterical laughter as he looked at me without any surprise. The idea of ”just a little haircut” failed instantly. The problem was that I had no idea what I could do to fix the situation. That was the moment when we both took turns from the kitchen to the bathroom mirror until I managed to straighten his wonderful hair. It’s good that he works from home and he doesn’t have to go to the office. His colleagues cannot see the ununiform haircut on the video calls.

It is clear to me that I have zero experience in the hairdresser’s area, but I tried to do my best. From this entire experience, I learned the following:

#1 you can buy a superset of hair scissors, but if you don’t know how to cut, those scissors won’t take a beautiful haircut on their own.
#2 it is wonderful to live with such a man; a man that knows that you are not good at something but supports you and gives you the chance to experiment (on his head!)
#3 it is awesome to have the ability to laugh out loud when you fail and then do your best to fix it.

#4 do not make haircuts in the kitchen! Never do that, because it’s awful to clean up afterward. (my action was too spontaneous to think about other details)
#5 it would be great to do propper documentation before I start doing something I had never done before.

In the end, it wasn’t bad at all to be my husband’s personal hairdresser, and I want to repeat this experience. I will take advantage of the lockdown and practice (as long as I still have a model). And, who knows, maybe Jen Atkin will be a little kid compared to me. I’m kidding, I’ll stick to the staff I am good at, but it doesn’t hurt to cut my husband’s hair as well as possible. This thing created beautiful memories, and we also save money.

How To Setup Google Analytics To Monitor Your Redbubble Stats (Redbubble 2021 UA Code Setup)

0
Google analytics redbubblee

As you may know, Redbubble is an awesome Print-On-Demand (POD) platform that enables users with artistic skills to monetize their art by selling it on different products, like T-Shirts, Masks, Mugs, Hoodies, Stickers, et cetera.

We have already created 200+ designs and aiming to upload hundreds of designs on the platform. It is fun!

In this article, I will show you how to set up Google Analytics for your Redbubble shop. Starting with 2021, Google has tweaked a little the Analytics interface, but things are not so different after all.

Are you ready to get to work?

Setup the Google Analytics Account and Property

#1 The first thing you have to do is to create a free Google Analytics Account by following this link.

#2 Next, choose an account name. I named my account 99xp (the brand I created to sell products).

Leave all the below options enabled and hit the Next button.

#3 Now you have to create a property name for your Redbubble shop. You can call it RedBubble. You can track different websites under the same Analytics account, by creating different properties.

#4 Now click on the show advanced options and enable the ”Create a Universal Analytics property”.

Choose the link to your shop, without the https://.

Now press Next.

#5 Setup the business information. The options are pretty straight forward, you don’t need my help here. After you have finished, press ”Create”.

#6 Your property is now created successfully. On the left corner, click on the dropdown menu which is located under ”Property”. Write down your UA ID.

Add the Analytics tracking code to your Redbubble account

#7 Go to your Redbubble Dashboard by accessing this link.

#8 From the sidebar on the left, go to Google Analytics.

#9 Insert the UA Google Analytics ID and press Save

This is it. Save Changes and you can now monitor the Redbubble statistics via your Analytics account. Enjoy!

What I Learned After Adding 10 Designs To Amazon Merch And Getting 0 Sales

amazon merch learn
girl learning amazon merch

My husband & I decided to toy with different print-on-demand platforms. I work as a graphic designer so I have the skills required to draw or design things and he is good with computers, SEO, and blogs. While we know almost nothing about POD, we considered that we have the right skills to have success with designing T-shirts. We watched half of a POD course on Udemy and decided to start the business. We are crazy, right?

We are currently focusing on RedBubble (link to the 99XP RedBubble Shop) and Amazon Merch (links for the Amazon DE, Amazon.com and Amazon UK shops).

This is what we have learned so far about designing T-Shirts and uploading them to Amazon Merch

amazon merch learn

#1 When you are Tier-10 you can upload to the shop a maximum of 10 products. One product is, for example, one Standard T-Shirt, sold on one market. A Standard T-Shirt and a V-Neck T-Shirt sold on Amazon DE and Amazon UK = 4 products. You can add them one by one, on different days.

#2 If the text from your design is multicolor, it will most likely not look good combined with many T-shirt colors. The rainbow-colored text will be compatible with two-three colors maximum. You should know this from the beginning.

#3 Pay attention when you select the products you add to your shop. For example, if you choose V-neck, your T-shirt will be available only for women (because V-Neck is for women). I know that men also like V-Neck clothing, but Amazon does not think so. It is awkward to design a product for men, but sell it for women.

#4 If you are Tier-10 and have the possibility to upload only 10 products, add them to a market that delivers to your address with free transport fees. It is a good strategy to buy 10 of your products to reach Tier-25, to be able to add 25 designs.

#5 Pay attention to what colors you use. Your text should look very well on the background color of your T-shirt. The unclear text will not sell any T-shirts.

#6 If you cannot sell a product in two weeks, don’t hesitate to remove it and replace it with another one.

#7 Once a design is live, you cannot modify the product it is printed on. You can only change the description and the price. If you want to replace a V-Neck sold on the UK market with a Standard T-Shirt sold in Germany, you need to remove the product entirely and upload a new one.

#8 T-shirts do not get sold by themselves. It’s not that easy, you don’t get rich with 10 designs. If you are a local brand and you have Social Media followers, you can boost your sales easily. Otherwise, you will struggle.

#9 While in Tier-10, you should not have high hopes. If you can, ask your friends to buy your designs or give them as gifts or giveaways. 10 products sold gets you to Tier-25, which means that you can add 25 designs to the shop.

#10 At first, focus on selling products to reach a superior tier. Add a small commission to your products. When you are Tier-10, your focus should be on reaching Tier-25, not on making profit.

How I Made My First 20$ With HoneyGain

I have been documenting in the last couple of months a lot about passive income streams.

Besides my graphic design projects, I also create art for products uploaded on RedBubble (link to the 99xp shop on RedBubble) and Amazon Merch (links to the 99xp shop on Amazon UK, Amazon DE, and Amazon US) and write content on Medium as Anna & Ryan.

My husband (who writes content here from time to time) is also helping me with these things, I am the creative half and he is the technical half. He is good with computers and knows a lot of stuff about the internet, SEO, blogging, and stuff like that. We make a really good team actually.

Enough with the blah-blah-blah (and with my husband), let’s return to HoneyGain.

HoneyGain is a cute application that uses your spare internet and gives you cents in exchange for the traffic. Each GB of traffic brings you 100 points in the app, which converts into 0.10$. The application can be downloaded for free and works on Android (you need to enable the “install apps from unknown sources” feature), Windows and Mac OS X.

You can have 2 devices on the same public IP (internet connection), both gaining honey for your jar. As I have noticed, the application is not resource-hungry. It does not use a lot of your internet bandwidth and it does not make your devices run slow.

You will receive the payment on PayPal, when you reach 20$. For the transaction, you will lose 1.4$ (this is not written anywhere on the internet, I know).

A few days ago, I had received my first payment. I had converted my 20 USD in Euro and, after the 1.4 USD cost, I received a total of 14.92 Euro. It’s not a big amount of money, but I did almost nothing for them.

I have installed the application on the 25th of September and received the first payment on the 19th of January.

If you subscribe to the application with my link (https://r.honeygain.me/RAZVA854B7), you will get a 5$ bonus (and need 15$ more, to receive the first payment).

Bringing new people to the platform will help you make more money because you receive a small percentage of their wins.

Also worth mentioning, if you open the app daily, you will receive a bonus, which usually is 20 points (0.02$).

You will not get rich with HoneyGain, but the extra money is always welcome, isn’t it? All you have to do is to install the app and forget about it.

And here are some photos, to take me serious.
